Art Rotterdam Week

It’s a new year with new cultural activities! Next to the 44th edition of the film festival, there’ll be another edition of Art Rotterdam! Art Rotterdam is one of the most well-known modern art fairs, and promises to give you an complete update of the developments within the world of art. This edition (the 16th!) will take place again in the Van Nelllefabriek and will last from the 5th till the 8th of February.

Every year Art Rotterdam focusses on young art, that have different exposition concepts of multiple galleries. What is even more different this year, is that Art Rotterdam will have a new section for non-profit spaces and artists initiatives. There will be a combination of video-, installation- and performance art presented in the old working place of the factory.
Of course is Art Rotterdam not the only thing that will take place that week, there will be multiple art fairs during the same weekend, but also multiple expositions that will start off in this week!

Rotterdam Contemporary:
For the last 4 year this fair was known as Raw Art, but the concept stays the same. This fair will only display the newest of art in the Cruise Terminal Rotterdam. The atmosphere is great every year! You’ll be amazed by the enormous collection on display, and enjoy a nice drink at one of the multiple cozy bars.

OBJECT on the SS Rotterdam
I already wrote about the SS Rotterdam, but during the Art Week there will be made place for another fair on the ship. This fair will only display contemporary design, well fitted with the vintage decoration of the SS!

International Book Art Fair
For the first time part of the Art Rotterdam Week! The International Book Art Fair will take place in the Fenixloods. This fair will include national and international publishers, bookshops, print shops, artists and designers. Especially for the real booklover this will be a nice visit!

Of course the city also understands the difficulty of transport. Therefore there will be free bus transport between the Van Nellefabriek, the Vierhavengebied, the Museumkwartier and the Wilhelminapier.
